Naples, blitz in Pianura discovers weapons and illegal dwellings

Yesterday morning, officers from the Pianura Police Station and the Local Police Unit Against Building Abuse, with the support of the Canine Units of the General Prevention Office, carried out an inspection of some properties in Via Artemisia Gentileschi.

In a cellar once used by a man and converted into a home, the police found a semi-automatic Beretta 9x21mm pistol with a partially erased serial number, complete with a magazine containing eight 9x19mm Luger cartridges, and an unserialized Lebel 8mm revolver hidden in a stereo. They also found a precision scale hidden in a kitchen cabinet.

Furthermore, during the inspection the operators found that the man, owner of an apartment in the same building, had started ordinary and extraordinary renovation works there without any authorization. Antonio Alfieri, a 50-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record police, was arrested for carrying, possession and receiving of illegal firearms and was reported for violations of the consolidated text of legislative and regulatory provisions on building matters; furthermore, both properties (cellar and apartment) were seized.
Finally, the officers ascertained that two other cellars in the building had also been transformed into a mini-apartment used by a 39-year-old Neapolitan woman who was reported for illegal occupation and for violations of the consolidated law and regulations on construction.
