In Naples, a funeral procession of taxi drivers with coffins headed towards the Regional headquarters to ask for subsidies
A hundred taxi drivers are taking part in a funeral procession in Naples, complete with a coffin carried on their shoulders.
The category – with the entry into the red zone – laments the collapse of income and asks for adequate support measures. The procession, starting from Piazza del Plebiscito, is heading towards Palazzo Santa Lucia, seat of the Campania region.
The taxi light sign was mounted on the coffin. There is also a funeral poster that reads “Here lies the taxi category”.
The taxi drivers' protest has been going on for five days with sit-ins and street demonstrations. The police are keeping an eye on the procession.
