The crew of an ambulance responding to an accident on Via Petrarca, in Naples, was attacked by some agitated people. The complaint was filed by the association Nessuno Tocchi Ippocrate.
“This time the scene of violence is not the Spanish Quarters, Scampia or Ponticelli, but the famous Via Petrarca…..it was from here yesterday evening around 22 pm that the call for help for a car/motorcycle accident arrived”. We read in the long post of denunciation of the association. Which then explains: “To respond to the call for help, the 118 Crispi station was sent and in 7 minutes, and we repeat 7 minutes, they arrived on site. The driver was greeted by a thug who threw a blunt object at the driver’s side of the ambulance……about 50 people were present who cursed with the worst epithets.
AFTER THE ATTACK HE SHOUTS: 'YOU MUST DIE'
The paramedics, through 1000 difficulties, reach the boy lying on the ground in terrible conditions. Even while the patient is being loaded into the ambulance, the nurse is attacked from behind! The 118 of Crispi manages to free itself from the crowd of troublemakers and to leave for the Cardarelli among the shouts of the people on the balconies who said: "you must die!"
After all the steps to ensure the patient's health, the crew files a formal complaint against unknown persons! If Crispi's ambulance had had the fateful cameras promised by the ASL Napoli 1, by now the complaint could have been targeted, instead it will be the usual complaint against unknown persons that will fall into the prosecutor's files! All this for 1.800 euros a month?”
Regional councilor of the Greens, Francesco Borrelli, intervened on the matter. "Continuing like this, we risk the desertification of the 118 service. We cannot accept going to work as if in war, attacks are now a sad and unacceptable habit that must be included among the priorities to be resolved. Without ifs and buts, we must install cameras on ambulances to be able to guarantee the efficiency of the service and the safety of healthcare personnel. The cameras, as we have been saying for years, allow us to trace the aggressors and thus identify the violent ones so that they pay for their mistakes, instead of filing the usual complaints against unknown persons. Especially in a dramatic moment like this, we must absolutely protect healthcare personnel".
