Naples, toll-free number established for information on vaccination campaign
The Order of Physicians of Naples, thanks to an agreement signed with the'ASL Naples 1 Center, establishes a toll-free number where Neapolitan citizens can ask for information on vaccination campaign Covid 19. The number 800.95.44.27, active from March 22 (from 9.00 to 14.00), will see a pool of 80 doctors belonging to the Order of Naples engaged in answering clinical questions. The 80 doctors are all professionals now retired, who voluntarily and with great spirit of self-denial have given their availability to create such an important service.
“What has happened in recent days with the AstraZeneca batches confirms the importance of having a direct channel with citizens, a line through which to provide correct information on issues that understandably create many questions,” explains the president of the Order of Physicians Silvestro Scotti.
“The Order of Physicians – continues Scotti – is a subsidiary body of the State, it must act to protect public interests. Our Order has always worked in this direction and collaborates with local authorities in the study and implementation of measures that, as in this case, are aimed at supporting the health of citizens on a topic of great importance”. As a family doctor, Silvestro Scotti also wanted to thank his colleagues who made themselves available to create this toll-free number. “A job that will greatly help general practitioners to support the enormous load of calls and requests that now arrive daily due to the pandemic”.
The representatives of the Order of Physicians for this project with the highest ethical value are the vice president Bruno Zuccarelli and (for the pool of doctors) Antonio Balzano, Antonio Correra and Ciro Florio. “Once again, doctors demonstrate an attachment to the profession, to the oath taken, which goes beyond any contractual or age limit. It is true that when you become a doctor, you are a doctor forever. We supported this when, as an Order, we guaranteed all our members, even those now retired, the vaccination against Covid; we continue to support it today in the face of this strongly ethical choice that once again allows us to be alongside citizens”.
