Sheets draped in the Quartieri for Ugo Russo killed while attempting a robbery. On dozens of balconies there are sheets with the words “Truth and Justice”
Dozens of sheets were displayed on balconies in Naples today to demand "truth and justice" for Ugo Russo, the young man killed last year during his attempted robbery of an off-duty police officer.
The so-called foglieta affected several areas of the city, in particular the Spanish quarters where he lived with his family.
“The publication in the newspapers of some previews of the investigation into the murder of fifteen-year-old Ugo Russo – reads a press release from Truth and Justice Committee for Ugo Russo – had a strong emotional impact among citizens who are part of the social groups of and the proposal of the bedsheet was born spontaneously to say once again that after more than a year in which not even the results of the autopsy are public, the time has come to know the truth, the whole truth”. Furthermore, it highlights “the lack of clarity on the dynamics of the fact”.
“Since the early hours of this morning,” the press release reads, “over one hundred photographs of balconies, windows, and basements have already arrived on the committee’s Facebook page and email, showing people from the Materdei, Arenella, Fuorigrotta, Gianturco, Via San Biagio dei Librai, Rione Luzzatti, and Porta Nolana neighborhoods displaying sheets, signs, or small banners.”
Last February 28, one year after his death, hundreds of people took part in a protest march that reached the site of the robbery where the boy's mother laid flowers.
