In Naples, people lined up outside the Mostra d'Oltremare to get leftover doses of the anti-Covid vaccine
In Naples, there's a desire to leave the pandemic behind and quickly return to normalcy. Despite the suspension of AstraZeneca administration and the wait for the EMA and AIFA's response following the suspension of the serum developed with the support of Oxford University, some residents have decided to queue outside the Mostra d'Oltremare, in the hope of receiving some leftover doses.
Some people have decided to go outside the gates of the only vaccination center currently active at ASL Napoli 1, taking literally the order signed by the Commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, General Francesco Figliuolo, which provides that "any vaccine doses remaining at the end of the day, if they cannot be stored, are exceptionally administered, to optimize their use and avoid waste, in favor of subjects who are still available at the time, according to the order of priority identified by the aforementioned National Plan and subsequent recommendations".
Those who were waiting wanted to enter to wait for any remaining doses, but they were denied access because they did not have a reservation.
In the afternoon, taking advantage of the government-imposed shutdown for the Astrazeneca inoculation, the pavilions of the Mostra d'Oltremare where the vaccines are administered are closed for cleaning and sanitization. Meanwhile, the Local Health Authority Napoli 1 Centro announces that, should there be any doses that would otherwise be wasted, these doses will still be administered upon direct call from the same ASL Napoli 1 Centro to the subjects already present on the platform, respecting "categories" and "registration chronology".
