The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, during two separate operations, between the Gianturco, San Lorenzo and Pendino districts, seized over 139.000 household items without the necessary safety certifications and counterfeit shoes.
In particular, during an initial intervention, the Pronto Impiego Group seized over 138.200 items with the counterfeit “MOCA” brand at a point of sale selling personal and household care products.
A 58-year-old man of Chinese origin was reported for commercial fraud, as well as reported to the Chamber of Commerce for violations of the Consumer Code.
The “MOCA” certification, acronym for “Materials and Objects in Contact with Food”, is required for all those kitchen utensils and tableware and is granted by a specific body following the verification of compliance with the safety and conformity requirements of the articles to protect the health of consumers; the aim is to prevent the alteration of the quality and healthiness of the foods with which they come into contact.
During a second intervention, the same “Baschi Verdi”, passing through Via Pietro Colletta, between the San Lorenzo and Pendino neighborhoods, noticed a man who was transporting bulky bags to a warehouse using a commercial vehicle. Subsequent searches revealed that inside, shoes with counterfeit logos of famous sports brands were stored.
In the end, over a thousand shoes attributable to well-known national and international brands such as “Nike”, “Adidas”, “Louis Vuitton”, “Hogan”, “Fila”, “Alexander McQueen”, “Timberland” were seized.
The person responsible, a 21-year-old from Gambia, was reported for receiving stolen goods and selling counterfeit products.
The operations of the Neapolitan Fiamme Gialle, both carried out during the performance of the public utility service "117", are part of the constant action of economic control of the territory, to combat counterfeiting, to defend Made in Italy and product safety, as well as to protect honest entrepreneurs and consumers.
