Naples: Sixty Volunteers in Action for the Green Care of Villa Floridiana
Naples. Sixty volunteers in action for the care of the greenery in the Villa Floridiana, an excellent participation in the initiative organized by the Regional Directorate of Museums Campania in collaboration with the GreenCare Aps Award Association.
The maintenance and care action involved the Boschetto delle Camelie, involving agronomists and art gardeners, experts in historic gardens and volunteers, and demonstrating how “small” actions have the great power to generate important examples of awareness and care of the common heritage.
The pruning and securing of the Boschetto was carried out by the Euphorbia team, made available by the Premio GreenCare Aps Association, while the leaf and grass cuttings collection operations were carried out by volunteers. On this occasion, new vegetation was planted in the pots at the entrance to Via Cimarosa, donated by Premio GreenCare Aps and entrusted to the care of the security staff of Villa Floridiana.
The Regional Director of Campania Museums, Marta Ragozzino, states: “The Floridiana park is one of the most important in Europe. It is a historic, public park, with a museum inside. The goal is to reopen it as quickly as possible, but in the meantime it is important to experience it, learning that with small and large actions you can do a lot, as happened on this occasion”.
The president of Premio GreenCare Aps, Benedetta de Falco, highlights: “The initiative had the objective of freeing from brambles a true historical botanical rarity, this Camellia Grove planted in 1830. A plant heritage that unfortunately has been hit hard in recent years, but that with our commitment we want to try to save and safeguard”.
Also present was the Councilor for Green of the Municipality of Naples, Luigi Felaco, working alongside the volunteers.
For the president of Fai Campania and vice president of GreenCare, Michele Pontecorvo Ricciardi, "Collaboration between all the third sector entities is important. Fai dreams of being able to manage the Floridiana, as has happened with other places, because it is a spectacular place that deserves our commitment and daily use by all citizens".
The difference in the care of the camellias was made by the work of the Euphorbia team, present on a voluntary basis and coordinated by the CEO Nunzia Petrecca and the agronomist Salvatore Terrano. They were enthusiastically joined by many citizens, including the president of GreenCare Caserta, Addolorata Ines Peduto, Claudia Borrelli, Francesca Russo, Teresa Fico, among the staff of the Campania Regional Museums Directorate, the volunteers of Wau Napoli, Rosario Brancaccio and Stefania Mangani, the agronomists Vincenzo Topa and Giovanni Masucci, the historian of the gardens Mimma Sardella, the architect Davide Vargas, Attilio aged eight accompanied by his mother Olga Centanni, Raffaella de Falco, Roberto Paternò, Antonella del Piero, Maria Chiara de Luca, Stani and Velia Frigenti, Ornella Iannone, Michele Fortunato, the president of Fai Napoli Francesca Vasquez, Maria Pia Turco, Francesco Carignani di Novoli, Marinella Proto Pisani, Elizabeth Deleacaes, Dario Fusco, Annalisa Arcara, Federica Palmer and Claudia Borrelli.
