Naples, Piazza Dante statue vandalized with red paint
Another attack on the historical heritage of Naples. The base of the statue of Dante Alighieri
in the Neapolitan square of the same name it was smeared with some red paint. The incident was reported by Amedeo Fasanella of the 25 June cooperative, co-owned by the Municipality of Naples, who documented the devastation during an inspection tour.
“Yet another act of incivility, yet another attack on our history and our monumental heritage. It is clear that there are still too many people who do not love their city at all. The mentality of these individuals must be fought and repressed through the culture of beauty and legality. We have asked that the statue of Dante be restored as soon as possible.” - declared the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
