The European Traffic Police Network “ROADPOL” has scheduled the joint European campaign called “SEATBELTS” (Seat Belts) for the period from 8 to 14 March 2021.
ROADPOL is a cooperation network between traffic police forces, created under the aegis of the European Union, which includes all Member States except Greece and Slovakia, as well as Switzerland, Serbia, Turkey and, as an observer, the Police of the Emirate of Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
The Organization intends to develop operational cooperation between European Traffic Police, with the aim of reducing the number of road victims and road accidents in compliance with the European Action Plan 2021-2030, through joint international operations to combat violations and "thematic" campaigns throughout the Continent, within specific strategic areas.
The objective is to raise road safety standards, harmonizing prevention, information and control activities, also through communication campaigns and joint operations whose results are then monitored by the ROADPOL Operational Group.
The joint campaign called “SEATBEALS” is aimed at the correct use of seat belts and restraint devices, with particular attention to child seats, by drivers and occupants of motor vehicles, so as to develop awareness and consciousness that at the same time all Traffic Police Forces are operating with the same methods and homogeneous tools for a common objective.
For the entire week, anyone driving on European routes will therefore be aware that, in every country they pass through, the correct use of seat belts and other restraint systems will be constantly monitored.
The Highway Police Department for Campania and Basilicata has arranged for targeted checks to be carried out on the territory under its jurisdiction, for the entire period and twenty-four hours a day, in particular on motorways and major national communication routes.
