Homage to Dante 700 years after his death. The Instituto Cervantes presents “Nuevas reescrituras de Dante con ADALBER SALAS HERNÁNDEZ.

On the occasion of the 22th centenary of the death of Dante Alighieri, the Instituto Cervantes of Naples is organizing a streaming meeting on the Zoom platform with the Venezuelan poet, essayist and translator Adalber Salas Hernández. On Monday, March 18 at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., the poet from Caracas will read some poems and talk to us about his relationship with the Florentine writer, his great source of inspiration. The event will be presented by Professor Giovanna Calabrò, a lecturer at the Suor Orsola Benincasa University of Naples specializing in contemporary Spanish and Hispanic-American poetry.

The meeting, entitled “Nuevas reescrituras de Dante”, is part of the week dedicated to Dante Alighieri by the Cervantes institutes in Italy: in addition to Naples, the celebrations will also be attended by the offices in Rome – with the poet Juan Antonio González Iglesias – and Palermo, with the writer Ilia Galán.

Born in 1987, Adalber Salas Hernández trained as a poet in the laboratories of great Venezuelan authors such as Miguel Marcotrigiano, Armando Rojas Guardia and Carlos Brito.

Translator from English, French and recently also from Haitian Creole, he is the author of several books: Salvoconducto (XXXVI Premio Poesía Arcipreste de Hita; Valenza, Pre-Textos, 2015), Mínimos (Madrid, Amargord Ediciones, 2016) and La ciencia de las despedidas (Valenza, Pre-Textos, 2018). And the prose volumes Insomnios. Ensayos sobre poesía venezolana (Caracas, bid&co. editor,2013), Clarice Lispector: el lugar de la poesía (Santiago del Chile, Ril Editores, 2019), Isolario (Bayamón, Ediciones Aguadulce, 2019) e Palabras sin dueño. Variations on literary translation (Mexico City, UNAM Literature Directorate, 2019). He has also published translations of Marguerite Duras, Antonin Artaud, Charles Wright, Mário de Andrade, Hart Crane, Pascal Quignard, Mark Strand, Lorna Goodison, Louise Glück, Patrick Chamoiseau and Yusef Komunyakaa. He directs the Diablos Danzantes series for Amargord Ediciones.
