Significant numbers at the emergency room of the Ospedale del Mare in Ponticelli. The Covid emergency returns to dominate, complicating the ordinary management of the hospital facility.
The hospital is increasingly under pressure. In the last four days, the number of hospitalizations for Covid has increased, and has been steadily increasing for more than a week. The situation is such that health workers have been forced to adapt the premises to allow the isolation of the sick.
The numbers are also rapidly increasing in relation to ordinary care, both due to the increase in visits to the emergency room - as reported in Il Mattino - and to the overcrowding of hospital wards which prevents the immediate transfer of patients after initial care for the subsequent phase of hospitalization.

Out of necessity, half of the emergency room at Ponticelli hospital was isolated, making it inaccessible to ordinary care.
Yesterday, in the rooms of the Short Observation and the green code, recently transformed again into a Covid area, there were 16 positive patients and another infected person had been admitted to one of the rooms for the red code. In addition to isolation, there was an urgent need to provide patients with sub-intensive care assistance: all infected patients, in fact, from a clinical point of view are to be considered critical patients and need treatment for the respiratory system, for this reason, most of them are assisted with non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
The other half of the emergency room that extends around the yellow area, dedicated to the care of non-Covid patients, currently hosts 49 people, many of whom are waiting for a bed in the designated departments. The situation is complicated from all points of view despite the efforts of all healthcare personnel.
