Continued embezzlement: 200 thousand euros stolen from the Municipality of Valle di Maddaloni. Assets seized from an official.
Following an extensive investigation led by the Public Prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the Carabinieri of the Valle di Maddaloni Carabinieri Station have executed a precautionary seizure order issued by the investigating judge of the local court. The seizure order concerns two bank accounts held at two banks, as well as two villas located in the municipality of Valle di Maddaloni, with a total value of approximately €2. The seizure order concerns Pasquale Saccone, a former official in the financial and accounting departments of that municipality who, following the events in question, was dismissed from that administration.
The investigative activity launched in July 2019, including through technical and information-investigative activities, had allowed the uncovering of the illicit activity carried out by the aforementioned manager who, having access to funds due to his office or service, appropriated a total amount of €164 through multiple actions carried out in the context of the same criminal plan.

In this specific case, the suspect's criminal conduct consisted of taking out personal loans, failing to apply the relevant deductions to his monthly salary; undue bonuses and false increases in monthly salary amounts; and the misappropriation of funds intended for bursar's expenses.
Finally, in July 2020, in order to avoid repaying the sum of money stolen from the Municipality over the years, the suspect pretended to legally separate from his wife, to whom he transferred all his properties. The investigating judge, granting the prosecutor's request, acknowledged the simulated nature of this transfer and ordered the seizure of two villas, should the bank accounts held by the unfaithful public employee become insufficient. He also appointed a judicial administrator to manage the assets.
