Continued embezzlement: 200 thousand euros stolen from the Municipality of Valle di Maddaloni. Assets seized from an official.
I Carabinieri of the Valle di Maddaloni Carabinieri Station Command, following prolonged investigation activities, directed by the Public Prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, have executed a preventive seizure order, issued by the GIP of the local Court, of 2 current accounts opened at as many credit institutions as well as 2 villas located in the Municipality of Valle di Maddaloni, all with a total value of approximately 200.000 euros, against Pasquale Saccone, former official of the financial area and of the economic service of that Municipality and, following the facts in question, dismissed by that Administration.
The investigative activity started in July 2019, also through technical and info-investigative activity, had allowed to reveal the illicit activity carried out by the aforementioned manager who, having for reasons of his office or service the availability of money, with multiple executive actions of the same criminal plan, appropriated it for a total amount equal to 164.534,00 euros, in the time frame from 2010 to 2019 (criminal hypotheses attributable to the criminal offences of continued embezzlement). This situation has contributed to determining the strong debt position in which that Entity finds itself, currently in financial distress.
In this case, the criminal conduct of the defendant was realized through the taking out of personal loans, omitting to apply the relevant deductions from his monthly salary; undue bonuses and false increases in the amounts relating to his monthly salary; the undue appropriation of funds intended for the expenses of the bursar's office.
Finally, in July 2020, in order not to return the sum of money stolen from the Municipality over the years, the suspect pretended to legally separate from his wife, to whom he transferred all his properties. The investigating judge, accepting the request of the Prosecutor's Office, acknowledged the simulated nature of this transfer and ordered the seizure of two villas, in the event of insufficiency of the current accounts in the name of the unfaithful public employee. He also appointed a judicial administrator, in order to proceed with the management of the assets.
