Pomigliano, car seized from the Camorra and supplied to the Local Police.
A Pomigliano A car seized from Arco camorra was assigned to the Local Police by the Anti-Mafia Directorate. The car, a Mercedes CLA, was, along with other vehicles and goods, confiscated from a man, the leader of a Pomigliano clan, arrested for crimes of mafia association and drug trafficking, and is now used by the Local Police.
"We call it the Tamar-car, since we found a lot of neomelodic music in it. This car was seized from a boss who had bought about 150 thousand euros worth of cars, they were all confiscated. It was not a smart move for someone who on paper appeared to be penniless. We decided to apply a thin layer of paint to the car, which will have to be easily removable in the event that, even if unlikely, the vehicle needs to be returned to its owner, giving it the institutional colors of the Local Police. We want people to see, especially young people to see, a car seized from the Camorra, with stickers to prove it, because in recent times the values have been inverted and we need to start believing in institutions, justice and legality again." - explained the Commander of the Local Police of Pomigliano D'Arco Luigi Maiello.
"For too long we have been chasing completely wrong values and emulating models of crime, oppression and violence. We need to reverse the trend, we need to send strong messages of legality and take away from the Camorra every asset and resource and reuse them for the community. Among other things, the Camorra member was found to be penniless and then bought 150 thousand euros worth of cars. If anything, he had also asked for the citizen's income" - commented the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
"It is the right path to follow, providing the municipal police with more means and tools for controlling the territory. The Camorra wants to profit, make profits, manage business. Taking away their wealth and making it become the heritage of the citizens remains the strongest weapon we have!" - concluded Carmine D'Onofrio, of Europa Verde of Pomigliano.
