March 21, 2021, the first day of spring, will be a symbolically and concretely important day for welcoming newborns into local communities.
In fact, within the national project of Building Kindness (www.costruiamogentilezza.org) which aims to increase the well-being of communities by putting children at the center, this date was chosen to celebrate the National Day of Kindness to Newborns, an opportunity for all Italian Municipalities to give their "institutional welcome" to all children born in 2020.
Cor et Amor Association
“In a complex moment like the one we are experiencing, “welcoming our future” through the National Day of Kindness to Newborns aims to fuel the desire for rebirth, the strength of the community's resilience and the feelings of hope that the present of all citizens needs to start again” explain the Cor et Amor Association which coordinates the implementation of the National Project.
During the day, each municipal administration will propose a ceremony, written in child-friendly language, unique for all participating Municipalities, to which each can add a good practice of kindness aimed at newborns and their families. Furthermore, the National Day of Kindness to Newborns has as its symbol the key, a very special key, the key of the kindness of the city, with which newborns are symbolically welcomed into the community.
The mayor of Portici
Portici, on the initiative of Mayor Vincenzo Cuomo and the proposal of the Councilor for Kindness Maria Rosaria Liuzzi, is the first municipality in the Province of Naples to join. In this regard, the Administrators themselves recognize the importance of this Day: "We are happy that our community can welcome so many children born in our city, because they are our hope for a more serene and energetic future."
There are 372 children born in 2020 and considering that our region will be in the red zone in March, we cannot meet our little citizens but we count on March 21st, National Day of Kindness for Newborns, to be able to deliver the key of kindness to just one child representing all the others. When the ordinances allow it, we will be able to deliver the key to all the new born in 2020 in the city of Portici, always respecting the anti-Covid safety regulations.
Municipalities interested in participating in the National Day of Kindness to Newborns have until March 10 to join.
