The PITER project resumes in the Sanità district of Naples, managed by the cooperatives "San Francesco" and "Luna"

“The PITER project in the Sanità district of Naples resumes”. The good news comes after the meeting held on March 25, at the Prefecture of Naples, regarding the long-awaited resumption of project activities suspended due to the failure to pay the fees accrued for services already performed. And it can also be read in a note in which it is underlined that “in particular, in this meeting it was acknowledged that the Management Office of the PON 'Legality' had certified the regularity and eligibility of the expenditure, relating to the payment requests of the implementing body, as well as the imminent overcoming of the accounting difficulties that had arisen in the meantime. It was also established that a special meeting will be held on Tuesday 30 March at the III Municipality of the Municipality of Naples, with the participation of representatives of the 'San Francesco' scs Cooperatives and the 'Luna' scs Consortium in the PITER project, in order to define the restart of contractual activities, also establishing the operating methods compatible with the current emergency regime in force in the Campania region". In the same note, "in submitting what has been highlighted" the Territorial Office of the Government at the Prefecture of Naples confirmed "the widest availability for any useful initiative in this regard, waiting to be able to know the start date of the project activities and the relative timing of their implementation".

Paolo Ragusa, contact person for the “San Francesco” scs Cooperative for the PITER project, highlights how “the teamwork of local institutions and the Prefecture of Naples, the attention and professionalism of the dedicated offices of the Ministry of the Interior, have guaranteed a good outcome to an administrative procedure that risked irremediably stopping the project activities. Now it is time to rebuild social and trust ties, network and start again from the needs and hopes of the young people of the neighborhood. A great opportunity for cultural growth and social redemption is returned to the territory, to the minors and to the families of the Rione Sanita' through the restart of the PITER Project.”

"At this moment - adds Simona Planu, project manager of the PITER Project - my thoughts go to the project staff who believed and carried out a dignified and responsible job despite all the problems and critical issues. For us, an important reconstruction phase begins and families are the engine of this project. A thank you, on behalf of me and the staff, goes to the prefect of Naples and the councilor for Labor Policies for listening to our voice. The hope is that this project will finally be seen as a value and a responsibility in favor of the minors and families of Naples.

The project “Territorial Inclusion and Empowerment Paths in the Sanità District” of Naples, was born from a co-design action implemented by the Municipality III of City of Naples and by the Ministry of the Interior. Strongly desired and encouraged by the territory and the Prefecture of Naples, the prototype project managed by the Cooperativa San Francesco scs and the Consorzio Luna scs, aims to start an effective and replicable intervention method for the purpose of preventing and/or repairing the exit from the school and training system, encouraging civic paths of legality in the territory. The project also aims to guarantee social inclusion by supporting the families of the popular Sanità district through a stable and cohesive network of stakeholders active in the territory (institutions, schools, parishes, educational and sports centers, third sector organizations and other private entities of the Sanità district).
