Sifus Confali's Protest: 'Farm workers ignored and forgotten by the Government'. The union continues to demand bonuses and confirmation of the lost days of 2020

“Why are only agricultural workers inexplicably always excluded from the commitment of economic resources, provided by the Government in the 'Sostegni' Decree Law?” The question is asked by the General Secretary of the national union SIFUS CONFALI, Maurizio Grosso, and the National Secretary of "Agricultural Workers" SIFUS CONFALI, Lino Masi. But it is not only this that is strongly contested, because Maurizio Grosso and Lino Masi point the finger at the fact that "the confederate unions met with the Minister of Agriculture, Patuanelli, without having had the sensitivity (during the meeting) not only to resolutely raise the issue regarding the need for a mechanism that provides for the reconfirmation of the working days of the previous year (on the welfare and social security level), but also to ask to strongly support the need for a bonus to financially replenish the days involuntarily lost in 2020 by agricultural workers due to the health emergency.

For these reasons - the two national secretaries, Maurizio Grosso and Lino Masi, announce in unison - the SIFUS continues the fight to claim the rights denied to agricultural workers and is still waiting to be summoned.

Are agricultural workers considered second-class workers, without family and without economic problems? If so, it's serious! Especially because we have seen that the Government has prepared aid and therefore resources for the redundancy fund, for new benefits for non-agricultural seasonal workers, for precarious workers in sports and entertainment, for the renewal of the emergency income and for the refinancing of the citizen's income, for local authorities and public transport, for healthcare and for vaccines. In fact, there are 2 billion euros to cover the cancellation of old tax bills. All this is welcome, but let's not neglect agricultural workers. It's not fair! It's not correct and it's not nice! So we at SIFUS CONFALI are even more legitimized to fight to protect them and ensure that they also have the sacrosanct right to be able to enjoy these resources, as will happen in Italy for other workers.

The union's request

We therefore ask - say the General Secretary of the national union SIFUS CONFALI, Maurizio Grosso, and the National Secretary of "Agricultural Workers" SIFUS CONFALI, Lino Masi, to whom is also added Ernesto Abate, National Secretary SIFUS CONFALI 'Consorzi di Bonifica' - a clear response and we want explanations, not only us of SIFUS CONFALI, but above all the thousands of workers who provide their services in the agricultural sector in Italy, such as agricultural workers, who should neither be ignored nor forgotten by the Government."

Naples: Water shortage in Roma camp sparks protests

by Gustavo Gentile February 13, 2026 - 17:47 17:47

On the External Ring Road, traffic was at a standstill in front of the Secondigliano Roma camp. Carabinieri and firefighters intervened in Naples: the burning wreck was apparently used to block the road following the water outage at the camp. Traffic disruptions and clearing operations are underway. Tensions were high yesterday afternoon, around 4:30 PM, in…

The controversy continues after the Ministry of the Interior's decision to restrict away travel for Lazio and Napoli fans until the end of the season. The "Con Te Napoli" (Napoli Con Te) Supporters' Committee, represented by President Luigi Iaquinta and lawyer Angelo Pisani, has raised the stakes, calling the measure an "indiscriminate and...

Naples is once again facing disruptions to public services. The historic Registry Office in Piazza Dante was closed from January 19th to 26th, preventing residents from accessing essential procedures. The closure, cited by the Municipality as staff shortages, is just the latest example of administrative management that, according to the Civic Committee "Innamorati di Partenope," appears grossly inadequate.

"The staff shortage isn't limited to the Registry Office," emphasize Carmine Attanasio and Sergio Livio, representatives of the Committee, "but extends to every sector: unswept streets, unrepaired potholes, clogged drains, cobblestone gaps that have never been repaired, and a bare-bones gardening service." Their complaint highlights the urgent need for a competitive exam to hire at least thirty agronomists and six officials for the Gardening Department, which is essential for the proper management of urban greenery and the safety of tree populations.
