Wage cuts: union protests at the Ercolano town hall. Cgil, Cisl and Uil Funzione Pubblica Napoli together with the Citizens and Workers of the Ercolano town hall in a sit-in in front of the town hall in via Resina

While in the halls of theDuck the City Council is taking place for the approval of the rebalancing plan for a budget deficit of 38 million euros.

The motivations

"In recent months we have asked Mayor Ciro Buonajuto to create a control room to find shared solutions to the financial crisis that has arisen in these years of administration. In response, democracy has been denied: first there was silence, then a bluff meeting with the Personnel Councilor and the Budget Councilor without them having had a mandate for a clear programmatic line and finally, when the real rebalancing plan to the detriment of workers and citizens was unmasked and the convocation of this morning's demonstration, another farcical meeting to give a semblance of legality and discussion, again without the presence of the mayor." Davide Pastore, Giuseppe Manfredi and Mario Russo, Cgil, Cisl and Uil Fp Napoli declared.

“It is unacceptable and serious that they want to repay the debt with cuts to employment, to services starting with the closure of the municipal school, cuts to professionalism and staff and in addition an increase in rates and taxes to the detriment of the citizens of Ercolano, even the youngest, who when the state of emergency Covid ends and they will finally have to return to the classroom, will find neither the school nor their teachers.
Nothing in the draft of the rebalancing plan being discussed by the Council refers to cuts to politics, while the outsourcing of services to private individuals is very clear, all this always with the citizens' pockets.

Self-referentiality does not pay, nor do “Pilatesque” actions, and we should instead ban the too frequent recourse to fantasy and exhibitionism of certain administrators and managers, still unpunished, to achieve the public interest of guaranteeing fundamental functions and essential services, in the interest of the local community of the Municipality of Ercolano, known throughout the world for its historical and artistic beauty and which does not deserve all this.” Pastore, Manfredi and Russo conclude.
