The first 40 years of “Ricomincio da tre” by Massimo Troisi. At La Radiazza, the son of the manager of the cinema in Messina who first decided to screen the films when no one else dared to do so, will be present.
Borrelli and Simioli: “We will organize a screening in Messina, a plaque in front of the former cinema that first screened the film and a screening at the Metropolitan in Naples.”
The film that marked Massimo Troisi's directorial debut, “Ricomincio d tre”, turns 40; in fact, it debuted in theaters on March 5, 1981.
Yet at the time, few believed in Troisi's project, so much so that the majority of movie theaters refused to show it. It was the manager of Massimo's Garden cinema, Gianni Parlagreco, who believed in Ricomincio da tre and decided to show it in his theater.
Umberto Parlagreco, son of the late Gianni, spoke live on the telephone at La Radiazza: "These are memories from when I was a child. Nobody wanted the film here in Messina, my father was farsighted and decided to screen it in his cinema, the Garden, which had already been transformed into a Bingo hall for several years. At the beginning, in the first two days of screening, it wasn't a great success, then over the weekend the Troisi phenomenon began to spread, and that's where it all started."
On the radio there was also an intervention by Enzo Caruso, councilor for culture of the Municipality of Messina, to whom the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the radio host Gianni Simioli made a proposal: "When it will be possible to do so, when the covid emergency is slowed, we would like to organize a screening of Troisi's film creating a moment of unity between the citizens of Messina and Naples in the room managed by Umberto Parlagreco. Furthermore, we would like a plaque to be placed in front of the former Garden cinema in memory of Massimo and Gianni Parlagreco who was the first to believe in the potential of the film." .
“Ten years ago we organized a screening at the Metropolitan in Naples for the thirtieth anniversary of the film, we will also organize it for the 40th anniversary and we will invite the mayor of San Giorgio a Cremano Giorgio Zinno. Celebrating and remembering a great man like Massimo, a symbol of Neapolitanness, comedy and universal feelings is a duty.”- concluded Borrelli and Simioli.
