The Archbishop of Naples, Monsignor Domenico Battaglia, has ordered the removal of two paintings from the Rectory of Maria Santissima della Cintura e della Consolazione in Marano.

The prints, depicting Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompeii and Saint Rita, had been donated by the boss Lorenzo Nuvoletta, of the eponymous Camorra clan, who died in 1994. The paintings were accompanied by a plaque reading: "To the devotion of Lorenzo Nuvoletta." The archbishop ordered their replacement with new images of the same subject, "so that faith may continue to walk with the hearts and legs of those who nurture these wholesome devotions."
