Area full of zootechnical waste seized in Salerno

The military of the San Cipriano Picentino Station, in the Salerno area, carried out an inspection in the Lago Trasimeno area of ​​the municipality of Pontecagnano Faiano on land used as a stable and training ground for racehorses

During a service aimed at preventing and repressing behavior that harms the environment and animals, the Carabinieri officers carried out an inspection in the Lago Trasimeno area of ​​the municipality of Pontecagnano Faiano on land used as a stable and training ground for racehorses.

The military immediately found several piles of manure consisting of straw and horse manure deposited in an uncontrolled manner, on the bare ground and without any type of covering. Being exposed to the elements, the piles constituted a serious risk of infiltration into the soil and subsoil, also given the heavy rains of the previous days. And in fact, some piles had, in their vicinity, begun to form visible puddles of dark liquid, presumably due to the leachate that had begun to form. During the inspection, the absence of suitable documentation attesting to the correct management of the waste and their traceability.

In light of what emerged during the inspection and given the high environmental hazard of the waste found, the area concerned, of approximately 300 square meters, and the manure present for a quantity of approximately 400 cubic meters were seized. The two tenants of the land were reported.
