San Giorgio a Cremano, spotlight on the urban hygiene contract

San Giorgio a Cremano. In these days citizens are receiving the TARI 2021, the feared tax for the payment of services urban hygiene. There is no shortage of controversy, especially from production activities in the area that have been halted due to restrictions imposed by the Government. Cultural and sports associations have also raised the alarm, such as the Centro Teatro Spazio, a symbolic place where Massimo Troisi was born and trained artistically.

All activities that are having difficulty coping with the payment of municipal taxes in this particular period of pandemic emergency. And it is in this context that the Sangiorgese collective FreeCremano wanted to put the spotlight on the urban hygiene contract through an investigative video published on social media. It is the most expensive contract in the city - activists report - equal to over 6 million euros per year for five years where, in the face of a low level of separate waste collection, at around 51%, well below the target set as a threshold of 65%, there is no benefit of a discount on the TARI.

In short, due to the lack of information and awareness campaigns provided for by the contract but which in reality remain impalpable to the community and the lack of attention to controls regarding the disposal, citizens, once again, are called to pay the price of a tax that has become unsustainable, especially today in a period of economic crisis. Not only that, FreeCremano also points the finger at the numerous contractual breaches such as the collection of dog waste with specific vehicles, the verification of customer satisfaction through surveys on users and the administration of questionnaires on satisfaction with the level of quality of the service provided.
