San Giorgio, over a thousand Easter eggs and artisanal doves distributed to families in difficulty
San Giorgio a Cremano. Eggs of Easter and artisanal doves made on lands confiscated from criminals, delivered to over 1100 families from San Giorgio. This is the initiative of the administration led by Mayor Giorgio Zinno towards fellow citizens in economic difficulty. A further measure of support that will be followed immediately after Easter, also the delivery of parcels with food. The recipient families are the same ones who received food vouchers during the Christmas period.
The purchase of these foodstuffs is financed with the residual funds of the Christmas bonuses, equal to 70 thousand euros; an amount whose expenditure is bound by an order of the Head of the Department of Civil Protection for the fight against the food emergency due to the Covid-19 crisis;
The Civil Protection volunteers who left this morning will be in charge of the distribution, delivering the first hundreds of “sweets and chocolate”, so that they can arrive in time for the Easter holidays.
This is another important measure that, after the Christmas ones (shopping bonuses and purchase bonuses), in agreement with the councilor Giuseppe Giordano, aims to give help to the families of San Giorgio and at the same time confirms that the administration does not intend to leave anyone alone, but on the contrary accompanies citizens in this difficult period, listening to the needs and trying to interpret the needs of the community.
“In this long period of emergency and with the consequent economic difficulty that has affected many families – explains Mayor Giorgio Zinno – we have tried to make our fellow citizens feel that they are not alone and we have tried to meet the needs of those who belong to various categories, investing resources and planning the actions to be undertaken for the social development of our community”.
In fact, since the beginning of the emergency, the administration has been offering financial support measures to those who have suffered from the crisis. In particular, from Christmas to today alone, shopping bonuses and vouchers for Christmas shopping have been delivered, over 300 tablets have been purchased to allow students who do not have technological tools to follow lessons remotely like everyone else; bonuses have been given to families of newborns to support new parents affected by the crisis; over a thousand pulse oximeters have been distributed and delivered to families in difficulty, and with the ITIA project, 100 kits with blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters and thermoscanners have also been donated to those who are positive for Covid and in economic difficulty to allow them to monitor their health status even remotely.
“The health emergency has certainly highlighted new needs and accentuated inequalities – concludes Giordano, creating further needs to which concrete and decisive answers must be given. With Mayor Zinno we are proceeding in this direction, acting 360 degrees to support but also to instill confidence in the future”.
