On March 8, one year after the pandemic, a live Facebook debate against gender discrimination from Scampia
March 8 is the general strike of production and reproduction, a strike against the roles imposed by gender. For this reason, on March 12 at 17.30:XNUMX pm from the Facebook page of the association Chi rom e…chi no we will be live to talk about trans-feminist and intersectional struggle, together with women who daily put themselves on the line to fight against gender discrimination and more.
“One year after the start of the pandemic, we want to talk about the repercussions it has had on our bodies and our existence,” reads a note. “Istat data speaks clearly: out of 101 new unemployed, 99 are women. That is, 98%. While, during the lockdown when the motto was #ioRestoAcasa, there were 5.031 calls to the 1522 public utility number directly connected to anti-violence centers, that is, 73% more than the same period in 2019. According to official data, there are apparently 112 women killed by femicide in Italy in 2020 and 12 in the first two months of 2021, while many others continue to fight against patriarchal violence inside homes, in toxic relationships, in the workplace and on the streets.”
At the same time, movements, women's circles and collectives are born for the self-defense and self-determination of women and non-binary existences. "In Argentina, the great wave of green panuelo, after years of struggle, has managed to obtain legal, safe and free abortion. But the struggle does not stop: women's movements are on the front lines for the reappropriation and reaffirmation of dreams, needs, rights that on all levels of life are continuously and globally questioned".
