Ciro Villano: Let's learn to write Neapolitan with "Napul'è mille parole - Enciclopedia Napoletana"
A provocation that started on social media, but also a real social desire for affirmation for a people who have always been treated as “second comer” when it comes to their own records.
And so it is that Ciro Villano, an actor, author and director from Campania who has been busy on various television and film fronts lately, brings up a “cult” topic of the South and specifically of Neapolitans: “If Neapolitan is defined as a language throughout the world, it seems right to also learn to write it! This passion of mine was born during my journey as an author, having followed a work on brigandage and thus discovering everything that is revisionism that the Neo-Bourbon Movement also liked (also in the person of President Gennaro De Crescenzo). I am not a secessionist, but I want to re-establish the pride of being Southern”.
For about a month, Cyrus Villano, is working on a new cultural format for the web produced by Green Film, and which takes the title of "Napul'è mille parole - Enciclopedia Napoletana". A real web-series, which sees him as the protagonist of a format, where you learn to write the Neapolitan language: "Many speak it, but not everyone knows how to write it...", and it is precisely this perspective that pushes the author to want to give the people of the Web, the "Neapolitan language" in the company of many guests and experts in the field, who will intervene during the various episodes.
Ciro Villano plays the role of a language teacher, who will propose in an ironic way and with the well-known comedy of the actor, phrases, words and sayings… strictly written in Neapolitan. The exceptional location is the Scarlatti School of Vomero in Naples.
Just recently, the singer Arisa, guest on Domenica In by Mara Venier, regarding her performance of “Quando” by Pino Daniele at Sanremo, said: “I have a very strong bond with the city of Naples. You know, Mara, I can write more in Neapolitan than in Italian”… could the connection with the artist born in Genoa and then lived in the province of Potenza be the meeting point that helps Ciro Villano in his desire to re-establish the pride of being Southerners?
Immediately after the adventure of the film “Ammèn” (Green Film), and the theatrical successes (from “Io speranza che me la cavo” to the modern fairy tale “La fabbrica dei sogni” with Sal da Vinci, an artist with whom he has shared the stage and friendship for years), Villano is approaching with “Napul'è mille parole – Enciclopedia Napoletana” which will be visible on the Green Film channels and available on the author's social media.
