Antonio Vanacore, assistant coach of Cavese (club of Serie C, group C) who had contracted the Covid-19 virus died today at the age of 45 in the hospital of Frattamaggiore.
A former footballer, assistant coach to Salvatore Campilongo, he returned to Cava de' Tirreni in December after last year's experience. As a player, he played more than 150 matches between Serie C and Serie B, retiring in 2013. He had played for Benevento, Catanzaro, Casertana, Juve Stabia, and Potenza.
" Cavese 1919 communicates with immense sorrow the passing of assistant coach Antonio Vanacore”, wrote the Cava dei Tirreni club, which in a message to the family defines him as “an irreplaceable man and professional”. Vanacore had contracted the virus in mid-February: initially he had been treated at home then, when the saturation levels had become worrying, he had been transferred to the hospital. Covid, in recent weeks has hit Cavese in a significant way: with 25 positives (17 players, 4 managers and 4 members of the technical staff) and the club was forced to postpone two championship games. Now that the group has almost completely tested negative, but the news of the death of the assistant coach has arrived.
