An embolism kills the young teacher, shock in Ischia and Procida

There is shock in Ischia and Procida over the sudden death from cardiac arrest of Ilaria Pappa, the 31-year-old professor who died last night in hospital. The woman, who works at the Mennella school in Ischia, was admitted to the Neurology department on March 16 and 48 hours later, following a cardiac arrest, she was transferred to the intensive care unit. She had been in a pharmacological coma since March 20. It seems that the teacher had already had an episode of ischemic stroke in the past.

Last February 28, the woman had been vaccinated, with Astrazeneca, during the vaccination campaign of over 1.200 teachers, managers and ATA staff of the islands of Ischia and Procida. The news of Professor Pappa's death was announced this morning by the principal of Mennella Di Guida through the school's social media channels where messages of condolence from students, colleagues and parents are multiplying in these hours.
