The Strange Case of Edmond Dantes and Pablo the Cat, the new novel by Vania Russo.
Love and intrigue are the protagonists of the new book set in the Old Castle of Duino, in Trieste. The tenacity of a professor and the paw of a cat shed light on the mysteries of a fraudulent art market.
Vania Russo's latest novel, The Strange Case of Edmond Dantes and the Cat Pablo, is coming out for Panda Edizioni. The story, set in the Old Castle of Duino, in the province of Trieste, mixes art, love and mystery with the complicity of a feline gaze.
The author immediately introduces the protagonist, Edmond Dantes Calligaris, immersed in the comforting daily routine of his secluded life. He is a restorer who, as the name dear to Alexandre Dumas suggests, must deal with his past, but also with Pablo, a very perceptive Chartreux cat. During the summer inertia he receives a particular request. Ennio Gherini, an unscrupulous Venetian entrepreneur, wants Edmond to discover the identity of the author of a nineteenth-century canvas that resurfaced during the restoration of the Old Castle.
Helping him in his investigations is the engineer's assistant, Iris Venturini, with whom he will share the successes and difficulties of the job, as well as many other passions. And he will need a lot of help, as soon as the professor learns of a scam hatched against him...

After the intriguing Inquisitor Trilogy (2018-2019), Vania Russo returns with a new novel for Panda Edizioni. The Strange Case of Edmond Dantes and Pablo the Cat highlights her many years of experience as an author. Furthermore, the book brings into play a series of ideas that make reading enjoyable and compelling. Vania Russo is interested in the history of espionage, counter-information and believes in the historical novel as a means of investigation as well as dissemination. If we then add a fascinating set like the Duino Castle, with a past steeped in history and legend, then we can be sure that the pages in our hands are capable of leading the reader by the hand on a wide-ranging historical-cultural journey, light and captivating at the same time.
