Villa Literno: Iolanda killed by Covid at 34
Villa Literno. The news of the death of Iolanda Mele, the youngest victim of this third wave in the Caserta area, has thrown the entire community of Villa Literno into despair: Covid took her away at just 34 years old yesterday.
The 34-year-old, hospitalized in intensive care for several days, was from Villa Literno. The mayor, Nicola Tamburrino, made the announcement, launching an appeal to young people following her death.
“A tragedy that should make everyone reflect, especially our young people who, despite the restrictions imposed by the institutions to deal with this dangerous pandemic, continue to behave irresponsibly, underestimating the drastic consequences resulting from it – he writes – Covid-19 is rapidly changing shape, variants of different origins follow one another which, unlike a few months ago, are spreading extremely quickly and do not spare younger people”. “For this reason, I ask young people to behave responsibly, to be respectful of their own and others' health: Stay at home, avoid travel unless strictly necessary”, he concludes.
Hundreds of messages from friends and fellow citizens heartbroken by the news: “You deserved all the good things in this life but life is bad. It took you away too soon from this world without masks and bad faces. Rest in peace.”; “He left us too soon. Now you are next to your dad.”
