Whirlpool, Fim-Fiom-Uilm: 'Protect all factories'
The National Coordination of FIM, FIOM, and UILM "expresses deep concern over the stalemate created over the past two months by the absence of the Ministry of Economic Development. The Minister has stated in the press that he is working to resolve the crisis, and he does so without consulting the workers," the unions state. In calling for an immediate meeting, they add, "we want to remind the Minister that there are no solutions that are not the result of shared agreement between all parties. The idea that decisions can be made over the heads of workers, to the detriment of multinationals, is unacceptable to us.
We have sent a request for a meeting to the company, which, in the meantime, is continuing its course and, in order to meet market demands, is putting its plants under pressure, without adhering to the industrial plan. We want to reopen the discussion, starting with the commitments that, in our opinion, Whirlpool should make in the new plan we are asking them to define."
"In the meantime, the management of workloads, schedules and the reorganization of production in individual plants must be consistent with the general framework that we want to discuss. We will not allow the Group to split, for this reason we have requested the convening of the national table. For us, the decision to protect all plants, starting from Naples, remains firm. The state of agitation continues and will lead, in the absence of changes, to the national mobilization of all workers", they conclude.
