There are 500 pharmacies between Naples and the province that have expressed their willingness to participate in the Covid vaccination campaign.
The data was transmitted to Commissioner Figliuolo via Fedefarma national that is aggregating all the reports from the provincial associations in order to allow the commissioner structure to organize vaccinations also in pharmacies. “Over 65% of our registered pharmacies have joined,” comments Riccardo Maria Iorio, president of Federfarma Napoli. “A very high percentage especially if you consider that the participating pharmacies are almost three times those that are participating in the screening campaign by carrying out the “rapid tests” in the pharmacy”.

Now the institutional path includes the drafting of regional protocols. "We have already had very fruitful meetings with the representatives of the Campania Region with whom there was immediately great operational availability, remodeling the rules already tested positively on the vaccination campaign to be able to perform swabs in the pharmacy, in order to respect social distancing and the safety of citizens". In the meantime, pharmacists are already undergoing the necessary training to inoculate the vaccines and deepen the procedures to deal with any adverse reactions.
“Obviously only those colleagues who have completed the mandatory training – continues Iorio – will be able to directly inoculate the vaccine”. “We are practically ready – concludes Iorio – to contribute with thousands of vaccinations per day. The vaccine we should administer is the Johnson & Johnson one. In our pharmacies we already have dozens and dozens of requests per day, but at the moment we cannot register any reservations while waiting for precise indications. We only hope that the Government sends the right number of vaccines and that it does not happen, as Governor De Luca has appropriately highlighted, that fewer vaccines arrive in Campania than there are citizens”.
