Cinema: 10 winners of “Social Film Production With the South”. The 10 films will tell the story of the South and its social phenomena

There are ten winners of the second edition of “Social Film Production Con il Sud”, the initiative promoted and organized by the “Con il Sud” Foundation and Apulia Film Commission.

The 10 films will tell the story of the South and its social phenomena, bringing together film companies and the world of the Third Sector. Among the winners are also “Amando e cantando” by Edoardo Winspeare (Saietta Film Srl with Fondazione Le Costantine and Fondazione di Comunita' del Salento of Lecce); “Il sentiero dei lupi” by Andrea D'Ambrosio (Iuppiter Group with Fondazione Picentia and WWF Silentum of Salerno); and “Teatro ai quartieri” by Matteo Parisini (Ladoc Srl with Foqus Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli and Napoli Children of Naples.

The 10 films, selected from 160 applications, will be supported with a total of 400 thousand euros. The evaluation committee will be chaired by Graziella Bildesheim, an independent producer and audiovisual expert. “I am convinced that the call promoted by the “Con il Sud” Foundation and Apulia Film Commission represents a winning formula for the innovative and engaging narration of a territory,” said Massimo Bray, Councilor for Culture and Tourism of the Puglia Region, speaking at the press conference.

"Social Film Production with the South – he continued – will give third sector organizations the opportunity to share, through the story produced by the film companies that will participate, the heritage of stories and testimonies of social life collected during their activity. An idea that, starting from the first edition, has immediately enjoyed a very positive response”. For Simonetta Dellomonaco, president of Apulia Film Commission, “cinema is not only capable of representing social reality, sometimes it creates it. This is what happened with this innovative project, where starting from the close collaboration between authors and third sector associations, a participatory and generative reality was created starting from the themes we proposed”.

“Once again this call shows us that there is a great desire to talk about social issues and to tell it with different means,” declared Carlo Borgomeo, president of the Foundation.
