Luigi Schettino, a 42-year-old State Police officer married with twins, died at the Monaldi hospital in Naples due to complications from Covid.
Schettino had been transferred to the Neapolitan hospital after being hospitalized for a long time at the Covid Hospital in Maddaloni. Great disappointment and emotion among the colleagues of the Naples Police Headquarters, where he was currently serving, and Caserta, where he worked for many years, carrying out numerous anti-Camorra investigations; in particular, he served as an official at the Casapesenna Fixed Post, the Flying Squad, the Digos and the Maddaloni Police Station.

Schettino was also one of the "boys" of Don Giuseppe Diana, the priest killed by the Casalesi clan on March 19, 1994. Raised in the council houses on the outskirts of Aversa, Schettino, after that "cursed March 19", as a student of Don Peppe - he attended the Itis of Aversa where the priest taught religion - decided to become a policeman and return to his homeland to investigate the clans.
