The use of the web and everything that revolves around it, understood as multimedia technologies, is growing; a rise that started a long time ago, at least a decade ago, but which, as paradoxical as it may seem, has found a valid ally in the pandemic in recent months, a criticality that has marked a turning point towards a world increasingly just a click away.
The trend can easily be referred to all sectors of the network with some peaks that concern in particular online purchases: the vast and heterogeneous world of e-commerce, online shops that have seen their turnover proliferate. But not only e-commerce, Italians also spend a lot of time on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram; in addition to searching for news, on online newspapers but also on social media, to return again to the point of before (where the risk of running into fake news is extremely high).
Investments, games and information: everything moves online
Even particularly strategic (and rather delicate) sectors such as investments have recently moved online. Almost all Italians now have home banking, for example, that is, they manage their current account directly from their PC.
Not to mention the world of online trading, the attitude of investing through web platforms, online brokers. The pandemic has definitively legitimized this attitude, encouraging many Italians to transform themselves into do-it-yourself traders.
But since we don't live only on serious things and the recreational sphere is also necessary, Covid has caused the numbers related to gaming and betting to skyrocket: in particular online casinos, with operators such as Novibet which have greatly consolidated their presence on the web.

Online payments
Last call for the world of digital payments: according to a recent study conducted by the Polytechnic of Milan in our country, the data referring to the number of Italians who turn to digital tools to make payments is growing. From paypal on down, today the choice is rather composite.
Numbers in hand, we are talking about over 5 billion transactions carried out, during 2020, using multimedia tools: to better understand the scope, this data is worth about 1/3 of the total payments completed. A clear sign that there is still a lot to do to get to an elimination of the concept of cash, inherent in the philosophy of our country; but that, all in all, the path taken seems to be the right one.
