Finding your refuge in music, the outlet to fight the difficulties of a daily life that flows quickly and insinuates itself into our minds, forcing us into a constant struggle with ourselves, our ambitions, our dreams. This is the central point on which “Fotografia” (The Bluestone Records/Believe Digital), the debut single by Davide Malafede, revolves.
[Press release]
On a very current production that winks at the typical sounds of Hip Hop and Old School Rap, a text of profound authorial value rests, which blends memories, hopes and plans for the future with the disillusionment of a young man who finds himself forced to grow up before his time and to face difficulties, responsibilities, life.
A mix between past and present, a past that we must not cling to, but that we must remember, burn into our soul to live today with the aim of building a better tomorrow, which is as similar as possible to our inclinations, personal and professional.
“This song – the artist states – does not only talk about the good times spent, but focuses above all on introspection, as if we were trying to relive all the positive things of our childhood: memories nourish the soul, they can be a real fuel that lights the engine of our heart and our future; the important thing is not to cling too much to the past, otherwise you risk remaining still, helpless, depriving yourself of the possibility of evolving”.
The struggle with one's own ego - "I don't know who you are anymore, I've often told myself I stare at these words and then I can't find the reflection of myself" -, the doors closed in your face and the falls of those who try everything to make their dreams come true, but often remain stuck between the part reluctant to change that lives in every human being and the difficulties of a society always in a hurry, because "those born with zero possibilities - continues Davide - have to work twice as hard and unfortunately, often, lose sight of the final goal". The conquest of revenge must come from within each of us, from an acquired awareness of our own background and potential, which must be refined with hard work, commitment, dedication and firm and full faith in our own aptitudes and passions.
"The message that must reach those who listen to this song, regardless of age or social class - concludes the rapper - is not to give up, not to give up and not to give in to defeat. It's over, they say at the end! I'm still fighting, I'm only at the first step and my battle will probably never end. But you have to be strong and, with humility, always remembering where you come from, aim for the goal and get there step by step".
'Photography' represents in music the painful and melancholic note in the song of the life of each of us, which passes through us and marks us, which dribbles the direction of our path but which, at the same time, leads us to grow, forcing us to reflect on who we are and what and how we have become, also allowing us to change and improve ourselves, to increasingly narrow the gap between who we want to be and who we are. The past will never come back and will always remain a beautiful photograph, what matters is finding the strength and courage to take other, increasingly beautiful and bright.
Biography
Davide Bad Faith was born in Rome on December 03, 1992. Due to family and personal needs, he grows up quickly and his sensitive soul, still very young, is troubled, leading him to ask himself thousands of questions and to oppose authority, both at school and at home, making him reluctant to any type of imposition and submission. Raised with the affection and values of his mother and grandparents, of Calabrian origins, Davide has always done multiple jobs, day and night, supporting and sustaining himself and his loved ones. In the fourth grade he becomes passionate about rap, thanks to the spark that ignites in him listening to Eminem, who between bars, rhymes and frankness, balanced between morality and moralism with the dualism and conflict inherent in his art, divided between Marshall Bruce Mathers and Slim Shady, represents for Davide the male figure of reference outside the home walls. While the sharp and witty rap of the rapper from St. Joseph who grew up in Detroit continues to flow in his headphones, in his mind and in his heart, Davide slowly approaches other pillars of Rap and international Hip Hop culture, especially Notorious BIG, discovering a different universe, within which, finally, he feels at home and can be himself without any judgment and prejudice; and he can be unique, but not one and only. So he begins to write his first lyrics, putting down on paper insecurities, fears, worries, disappointments and frustrations, also encouraged by an interview with Fabri Fibra from Senigallia, who, when asked what advice he would give to kids who want to try their hand at rap, replied that they shouldn't dive in head first even if they thought they were geniuses, but try and try again, writing down every sensation, every thought. At the end of 2020, Davide Malafede was noticed by The Bluestone Records, a Roman label always attentive to young talents in the Italian music scene and signed his first record deal with them. In April 2021, “Fotografia” was released, his first official release, a song that tells, in a purely rap key, the continuous struggle with oneself to achieve one's goals.
