“Immunize the citizens of Campania by the end of the summer”. This is the goal of the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca.

He said this today during his usual Friday Facebook Live. He then added: "We need to be able to administer 70 vaccinations per day, now that we have the doctors available," he explained. "That means over 2 per month, and it means that by the summer, or fall at the latest, we'll have completed immunization, that is, two doses, for all the citizens of Campania. We have to do it."

IN CAMPANIA 140 VACCINATION POINTS

“Today in Campania we have 140 vaccination points, in each of which we can have several boxes for administration, there are over 540 in total. We are evaluating the possibility, it is within our reach, of doing at least 500 vaccinations per day on average for each vaccination point. This is the work to which we are dedicating all our days and nights, because this is the goal to achieve: immunizing all our fellow citizens by the end of the summer”.

2 Campania data better than in orange zones

“Even though we still have numerous infections, there are two data that should comfort us and that place Campania in a position almost at the forefront in Italy, namely the number of intensive care units occupied and the number of deaths”. This was underlined by the president of the Region, Vincenzo De Luca “To date we have 160 intensive care units occupied, half compared to regions that are perhaps in the orange zone, confirming that there is a containment effort with respect to the epidemic”. On deaths, he continues, “we are at 5.400, six times less than Lombardy, half of Veneto, Emilia and Piedmont”. From the point of view of essential data, therefore, “the region is holding up well and this has allowed us not to close the ordinary departments”.

De Luca: Today conditions to get out of the ordeal

"We are starting to enter a different state of mind from Easter. Projecting ourselves more and more psychologically towards the future, thinking more and more about what our life could be in two months, three months. Today there are all the conditions to begin the journey to get out of this ordeal. On the condition - adds De Luca - that we do not make mistakes, we do not make mistakes and we maintain maximum rationality. Putting behind us these months and this year of dramatic heaviness for the life of each of us".

The goal is to immunize the islands by April

"By April, the goal is to immunize the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida in order to protect the tourist season. At the same time, we would like to start the vaccination campaign for hotel staff on the coast and in Naples and then in the industrial and commercial areas," he stressed. "There is a problem that we need to solve, illegal immigrants."

De Luca: 'We must not forget the tragedy of autism'

"It will not be a normal Easter but we will have the opportunity to meet again in our families even in a difficult situation. A greeting to families who have lost loved ones to the disease and I want to address a thought to those families in which there are autistic children. Yesterday I visited the treatment center in Qualiano, a beautiful and cutting-edge center, the most important in the Center-South also attended by families from the North. It is one of the problems that risk being ignored and left on the margins, they are real family tragedies. We will do everything to be close to them, with great civility without experiencing the problem as a nuisance but trying to deal with it as if it were our life".

De Luca: 'in Campania the number of symptomatic positives is abnormal'

For the president of the Campania region, Vincenzo De Luca, in the region there is “an anomalous figure regarding the number of symptomatic positives”. The governor, during his Facebook live explains that “in Campania we have about 2 thousand positives per day but the number of symptomatic is about 300 per day” even if De Luca continues “many are paucisymptomatic, that is with mild symptoms. If we had people with serious symptoms there would be intensive care units clogged up”. “From the studies that the regional crisis unit is carrying out, it is clear that the aggressiveness derives from the English variant which is more serious compared to young people because it attacks the youngest population”.

13 doctors available for vaccination

“Another critical issue we had was with staff. We have 15 fewer employees in Campania than others. But we also had other problems. We need to have a situation in which thousands of doctors are involved in addition to public health personnel. In recent days, this problem finally seems to have started to thaw. To date, we have had the availability of over 5 dentists, 3180 family doctors, 1.800 young specialist doctors, 1.800 pharmacists. We have a total of 13 more doctors to use. This gives us the opportunity to multiply vaccinated citizens”.

De Luca, "there is a problem with irregular migrants, they must be vaccinated"

“There is a 'delicate' problem, regarding the vaccination campaign, which for the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca, must be addressed: "the irregular non-EU citizens who escape control, do not show up for fear of being identified and who must be vaccinated for this summer, especially the personnel who are used in agricultural companies". "We cannot have freewheeling spreaders of contagion - he explained in the live Facebook - we are working to open, at least in the areas of greatest presence, such as the Piana del Sele and the Caserta area, vaccination centers for this summer to be managed in collaboration with the Caritas volunteer associations, also in a confidential manner. The important thing is not to have people in circulation who spread the contagion".

DE LUCA: 'CARD FOR VACCINATED PEOPLE, THEY WILL HAVE A WIDER SOCIAL LIFE'

“We have concluded the tender to produce 4 million vaccination cards, we have distributed almost 200 thousand to those who have had the double dose”. This was announced by the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca in the live broadcast on Facebook. “We are distributing this card – he explained – because it can help us reopen cinemas, restaurants, museums, sports centres. We will be able, in a few weeks, to have a situation where it will be possible to establish that those who have a card will be able to have a broader social life”.
