PLOT

What are eroticism and the discovery of the senses for boys on the threshold between adolescence and adulthood? The bathers desperately try to grow up, through tests of courage and initiation rites. Water and light, symbols of rebirth and catharsis, will help the boys to wash themselves and get rid of an immaturity that they wear proudly, in the form of nicknames. The Hedgehog, the Boxer, Mezzalira, Harpoon, Eel, Pythia: characters who draw inspiration from masterpieces of plastic art (such as the Rape of the Sabine Women by Giambologna, the Boxer Creugante and Paolina Borghese Bonaparte as Venus Victrix by Antonio Canova) and figurative art (Bathers by Paul Cézanne, Summer Scene by Jean-Frédéric Bazille, The Raft of the Medusa by Théodore Géricault, Delphic Sibyl by Michelangelo Buonarroti, Venus in the Mirror by Diego Velázquez, etc.) to better tell of metamorphoses and katabatic experiences. Descents and ascents that take the boys from the safe harbor of innocence to the mysterious lands of sex and corruption, tragedy and death, but also of dreams and love.

THE PUBLISHING HOUSE

Les Flâneurs Edizioni was founded in 2015 by a group of young lovers of literature. The French term “flâneur” refers to a typically early twentieth-century intellectual figure who, armed with a bowler hat and walking stick, wanders aimlessly through the streets of his city discussing literature and philosophy. Today, as then, the publishing house aims to spread literary culture in all its forms, from fiction to poetry to essays, with independence of thought and a careful eye for quality. Les Flâneurs Edizioni intends to follow the author in all stages of publication: from editing to promotion. Les Flâneurs Edizioni is against paid publishing.
