Neapolitan blocked at border with 368 thousand euros hidden in the false bottom of his car
In the course of the activity aimed at combating illicit trafficking, the Financiers of the Bassano del Grappa Group, in the territory of the Municipality of Pianezze, during a check they found 368 thousand euros in cash in the false bottom of a car on board which was travelling a 49 year old man, BG, born and resident in the province of Naples. The provincial command of the Guardia di finance of Vicenza explains that the man was stopped on board a Mercedes B-class with Italian license plates and, in the phase of verifying the absolute necessity of the stopped person to move within the national territory in light of the restrictive provisions linked to the pandemic, the increasing signs of nervousness of the man led the officers to a more thorough check of the car and the driver.
During the search of the vehicle, a mechanized, electronically operated double bottom was discovered, inside which the sum of 368 thousand euros was found, distributed in three plastic bags, in 15.057 banknotes of different denominations. The man, who according to the investigations had presented the last tax return referring to the 2013 tax period, when he had declared income equal to approximately 6.500 euros, was reported for receiving stolen goods and the money and the car were seized.
The investigating judge of the Vicenza court, following the request for validation formulated by the competent public prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor's Office, issued a decree of preventive seizure of the cash, the Mercedes B-class car used to hide the seized sum and the electronic/mechanical device that allows the opening of the false bottom. The investigations continue in order to acquire elements regarding the origin and destination of the large sum of money seized, as well as its origin in relation to transaction operations.
