Naples, waiting for vaccines: 14 elderly people positive in a nursing home
“They waited in vain for the vaccine, requested last February 10, with a reminder on March 10, but the OK never arrived and now 14 elderly between 73 and 94 years old, and 7 health care workers all tested positive for SARS-CoV-2“. The episode, made known by Erich Grimaldi, president of the “Covid Home Care” Committee, concerns a nursing home located in Corso Umberto, Naples.
“The first symptoms were felt by an operator on March 29,” continues lawyer Grimaldi, “but only between Friday 2 and Saturday 3 April were the guests and operators of the nursing home swabbed. The ASL, with a note dated April 4, following the communication received from one of the family doctors, requested isolation: but in the facility everyone is now positive.” “At the moment there is no news,” concludes Grimaldi, “of a visit from the USCA.” At the president's direction, some doctors from the “Covid Home Care” Committee have already contacted the facility to provide assistance.
