She began to suffer from persistent nausea, to vomit and, consequently, to lose weight visibly, until she weighed 49 kilograms: Rita Caccioppoli, who had been diagnosed with depression, died last April 6th, at only 27 years old, inSea Hospital of Naples, despite repeated attempts by health workers to revive her. According to a psychiatrist accredited by the ASL, however, the girl did not suffer from any eating disorder. Like all young people, she was suffering the effects of the ongoing health emergency.

Not even a 17-day hospital stay was able to shed light on the problems that had been plaguing her since last February. According to the doctors who had visited her in these months, with the exception of the psychiatrist, Rita was suffering from depression caused by stress. But she was eating, she was hungry, she wanted to eat but she couldn't keep food in her stomach. Now, unfortunately, only the autopsy, ordered by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, will be able to shed light on the causes of her death. Until that dramatic and sad April 6, all the tests she had been subjected to had always given negative results.
But she continued to feel sick and weaken. The young woman was forced to seek medical attention several times, but the nausea and vomiting did not stop tormenting her. And, by ingesting less and less food, Rita weakened to the point of being almost unable to stand. After a visit to the neurologist, the young woman was also prescribed antidepressants, which however forced her to sleep all day. The day after the tragedy, the 27-year-old's family, together with their lawyer, Amedeo Di Pietro, went to the Ponticelli Police Station to file a complaint and ask the judicial authorities to shed light on the dramatic story.
