Naples, murals and clan altars: only camorristi are celebrated

On the question of mural and little altars celebrating criminals and camorristi also intervenes Vincenzo Galletta, father of Luigi, the young mechanic from Forcella who at 21 was killed by a hitman of the baby-boss Emanuele Sibillo. According to investigators, the young mechanic was murdered because they wanted to extort information from him about a cousin of his, perhaps close to the Mazzarellas. But Luigi had neither ties to the underworld nor information to give but was brutally killed anyway.

In an interview with Il Mattino, Vincenzo Galletta says: “I read about murals depicting young robbers killed during their exploits, about social media about the exploits of alleged murdered bosses and I ask myself a question: how come no one thinks about those who died wearing a mechanic's overalls? How come no one is passionate about those who were killed chasing the dream of an honest life, with their hands dirty with workshop grease?”.

"The questions posed by Vincenzo Galletta are not only the words and the outburst of a father destroyed by grief but represent much more, they are the cry of alarm of the citizens tired of the abuses of crime, of the exaltation and celebration of the Camorra and criminals. While bosses, Camorra members, murderers, robbers and criminals of all sorts are praised and sanctified with votive chapels, plaques and murals, the victims and heroes are forgotten, as are their families. This is because the unhealthy part of the city, the one that sees the institutions as an enemy to fight and the Camorra as a god to celebrate, believes it can take over everything, the walls and the streets, building altars and creating murals wherever they want, and also the right to memory and celebration, a right that according to them belongs only to those who are part of their world, that is, criminals and Camorra members. But the blame must also be attributed to that part of the radical-chic culture world fascinated and attracted by the criminal world, because an honest person, a worker, someone who has always toed the line is not news, it is not a story from a novel, even if he is killed. It is a mentality that must be eradicated, any means useful for the purpose must be used, there is no need to procrastinate any longer. It is necessary to remove all the works that praise crime to make room for the values of legality and the faces of the victims and heroes.” - the words of the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
