The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has seized, during separate and simultaneous inspections carried out throughout the metropolitan area, 143.000 counterfeit and unsafe medical items.
These are masks, visors, gloves, without the minimum safety certifications and indications for the consumer, such as the importer, the manufacturer and the description of the characteristics in Italian.
In particular, in the capital, over 100.000 surgical masks, visors, thermometers and pulse oximeters that were not up to standard, without a brand or with a false CE conformity mark were seized in two Chinese stores in the industrial area.
In the province, between San Giorgio a Cremano and Ercolano, over 16.700 masks and latex gloves without information in Italian were seized in household goods stores run by Chinese citizens and from a graphic designer.
In Marigliano, Acerra, Torre del Greco and Forio, over 5600 pseudo-protective masks without the mandatory indications and with a false CE mark were seized at four household goods shops.
Also between Castellammare di Stabia, Pompei, Giugliano in Campania and Villaricca, 12.200 disposable masks and visors with instructions exclusively in Chinese and with a false CE mark were seized in four shops managed by citizens of Chinese origin.

A total of 7 individuals, both Italian and foreign, were reported to the Judicial Authority for receiving stolen goods and trading in counterfeit products, and another 7 were reported to the Chamber of Commerce for administrative violations.
The operation is part of the intensification of the prevention and repression of counterfeiting, one of the phenomena on which speculations related to the Covid-19 emergency are most concentrated, planned by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples to protect citizens in conjunction with Campania's recent transition to the "yellow zone".
