Parish priest to the faithful: "I'm in love and I'm leaving the cassock". The news was reported by La Nazione: the priest of Massa Martana asks to return to civilian life

During Sunday mass he announced to the faithful gathered in the church of Massa Martana (Perugia) of having “fallen in love” and of having asked for dispensation from priestly celibacy and reduction to the lay state: the protagonist of this gesture was the parish priest Don Riccardo Ceccobelli.

The story is reported by La Nazione. The announcement came alongside the bishop, Monsignor Gualtiero Sigismondi and the friars of the Third Regular Order of Saint Francis who from today will be administrators of the parish. Don Riccardo – according to what the newspaper writes – wants to leave the priestly habit and return to civilian life.

“I remain at the disposal of the Church,” he said, “and I am looking for a job.” The priest is 42 years old and was ordained a priest on March 18, 2012 in Pantalla, a hamlet of Todi where he is originally from.
