"I intervened, together with the police, for what at first seemed to be a failure to comply with the anti-Covid rules - he explains - then it turned out to be a protest aimed at reopening commercial activities. As mayor and as an entrepreneur, I would have gladly given the authorization, but it is the method that I condemn".

“I came across as a table thrower,” he adds, referring to some frames of the images posted on social media that went viral, “for goodness sake! The only thing I’m launching as a conference of mayors of the Amalfi coast is a massive vaccination campaign for tourism operators. Our motto is to reopen forever. The gentlemen who protested and we want the same thing. It’s the method that is diametrically opposed. We owe it to the citizens who respect the rules and to those who are on the front lines fighting Covid.”
