Protests in Amalfi by traders and tourist operators

It is the Cathedral of Amalfi to act as a backdrop to the protest of the territorial tourism workers who, this morning around 10, gathered in the square to denounce the difficulties they are experiencing due to the closures and to ask for a safe restart of the sector soon. On the steps of the cathedral, a white banner was hoisted on which, in red letters, one reads "Work and dignity for all".

The protesters, stating that the sector is “mainly made up of businesses and families who manage their own accommodation facilities thanks to regular administrative and health licenses”, highlight that the sector “is forgotten and abandoned to itself”. In the square, they brought a pillow because “a pillow is all we have left: nothing”.

Abbac, the association of Bed & Breakfasts and Guest Houses of Campania, and representatives of other categories are asking, among other things, for clarity on the actual reopening and on the health passport, vaccination for workers in the sector and for all citizens, considered "fundamental because it constitutes the point of balance between health needs and economic recovery, especially in the areas most affected by tourist flows", a tax relief, with the exemption and/or reduction of local taxes.
