Searches in Irpinia: 69-year-old missing from home
Considered a case of removal volunteer, at least until today, when the Carabinieri returned to Prata Principato Ultra and carried out some inspections and questioned several people in the town to explain the disappearance, last January 8th, of Domenico Beef, 69 years old. The hypothesis that the man left home, that he may have committed suicide, or that he died by accidentally falling into a well or stream no longer seems to hold up. The Carabinieri of the RIS and the firefighters returned to the areas they had thoroughly searched in the days following the disappearance, but found no trace.
They started with the only surviving image of that day, in which the elderly man leaves his daughter's birthday party without explaining himself to his family and doesn't return home. A surveillance camera captured him walking toward the Avellino-Benevento train station. The investigation focused specifically on a body of water that passes near the archaeological site of the early Christian catacombs, and the interrogations focused on a group of young people who were present at Manzo's daughter's party. The family never believed the theory of a desertion.
For now, investigators are holding back, but after the decision to essentially close the case, something has prompted them to resume their investigation. They are also searching the contacts of some of the missing man's close family members to reconstruct the last hours in which Domenico Manzo was seen in the village.
