Irregular expansion of “Cotton Village”: preventive seizure of the area of the Shopping Centre
The Carabinieri have sealed off a goods depot and a terrace for catering and events that had been granted to create a car park

The Carabinieri have seized for building violations, by order of the investigating judge of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere court, a property that is part of the shopping center “Cotton Village” in Piedimonte Matese (Caserta), where there are offices, a goods warehouse and a terrace for catering and events.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which coordinated the investigation, the building, which was the subject of a building permit issued by the Municipality in 2018, was to be used as a parking lot for customers of the shopping center, while the owner of the "Cotton Village" allegedly unlawfully changed its intended use with the complicity of the administrator of the center and the designer of the expansion work - the three are under investigation - creating offices, a goods warehouse directly connected to the shopping center, and a terrace for catering where, the forestry police of the Piedimonte Matese station found, events with many people were held; this latter circumstance, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office led by Maria Antonietta Troncone, could also constitute the crime of negligent disaster, "the structures, and in particular the roof given for use by the catering business, not being designed to support the weight of numerous customers".
The investigating office also reports the results of the technical investigations of the Caserta Fire Department, according to which there would also be abuses of the fire regulations.
