There continues to be a suspicious white foam in the waters of Lago Patria. Many citizens have reported the phenomenon to the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli who has already intervened on the issue in recent days.
“In the last few days we have questioned the president of theVolturno Licola Reserve Authority Falciano Giovanni Sabatino who explained to us that it is biological foam due to eutrophication due to excess nutrients that come from the main channels that flow into the Lago. We asked Arpac to intervene and the Region to find definitive solutions to the problem.” – declared Borrelli.
“The cause may be linked to possible illegal discharges into the lake of waste water from human activities together with livestock waste from farms in the area. During some periods they are due to natural phenomena such as algae blooms.
We urgently need to verify the nature of the phenomenon. It is not the first time we have encountered it. We have been reporting the environmental degradation of the lake for years, yet the situation has never changed. It is necessary that the water analyses, by Arpac, are carried out serious and periodic checks in the canals, at the mouth and at the pumping station to verify the presence of illegal discharges.
We have been standing by and watching for too long, now is the time to act and put an end to environmental crimes, we are approaching the point of no return, from then on any intervention will be useless, we must hurry.” - thus expressed Vincenzo Peretti, exponent of Europa Verde and full professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production of Federico II.
