Peculiar techniques were adopted to carry out the purchase and sale: the Telegram channels, accessible with the authorization of the manager, served as a showcase to then direct the buyer to the Marketplaces dedicated to purchasing on the Dark-Web where they could choose the desired vaccine and make the payment only through cryptocurrencies. A specific Customer Service was also available through anonymous users created on instant messaging platforms.

The complex investigative activity, coordinated by the Deputy Prosecutor at the Demand of the Republic of Milan, Eugenio Fusco and directed by Deputy Prosecutors Bianca Maria Baj Macario and Maura Ripamonti, is conducted by the Special Unit for the Protection of Privacy and Technological Fraud of the Guardia di Finanza and is aimed at combating illicit economic and financial phenomena linked to the emergency situation with serious repercussions on the economy and the social fabric.
