Three people close to the Terracciano group arrested. They attempted to kill the regent of the rival clan Umberto Piscopo.
This morning i Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Naples have executed a custodial order issued, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, by the GIP office of the Court of Naples against 3 (three) individuals, attributable to the Terracciano group and seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of the crimes of attempted murder in competition and carrying of weapons in a public place, all aggravated by mafia purposes.
They are accused of having planned and carried out the attempted murder of Umberto Piscopo, at the time the regent of the rival Piscopo-Ponticelli clan – operating in the municipalities of Massa di Somma and San Sebastiano al Vesuvio.
The facts date back to May 3, 2018 when in Massa di Somma, near the entrance to Umberto Piscopo's home, a commando fired numerous shots from a 7,65 caliber pistol aimed unmistakably at killing Piscopo.

The investigative activity, conducted by the Carabinieri Investigative Unit of Torre Annunziata and the Tenenza di Cercola and directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples - DDA, was developed with telephone and environmental interceptions and supported by statements made by persons informed of the facts, by a collaborator of justice and by one of the subjects currently subject to precautionary measures in spontaneous declarations to the PM, as well as by photographic identifications of executors and instigators.
The complex of investigation activities allowed for:
a. identify, for each of the three suspects, the causal and effective contribution in the realization of the ambush:
– Antonio Terracciano, a 32-year-old criminal, a leading figure in the Camorra group of the same name, was identified as the instigator of the murder – for having decreed and planned it – and the executor for having participated in it;
-Umberto Scognamiglio, a 50-year-old criminal, participated in the executive and organizational phase of the criminal action, physically firing the gunshots at Umberto Piscopo;
– Antonio Borrelli, a 40-year-old with a criminal record, for having contributed to the crime by transporting Umberto Scognamiglio on board his own car to the vicinity of Umberto Piscopo's home and subsequently acting as a "lookout";
b. recognize the typical Camorra origin of the attempted murder, particularly evident in the methods of execution with which it was perpetrated and in the motive, unanimously indicated by all the declarants in the attempt of the Terracciano group to obtain control of the territory in the municipalities of Massa di Somma and San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, by carrying out actions aimed at increasing the credit of one clan (Terracciano) to the detriment of the rival one (Piscopo-Ponticelli).
